CyberLink unveiled a new technology that coverts DV directly into the MPEG, saving the step of having to go from DV to AVI then to MPEG format. The InstantMPEG technology is embedded in the company's PowerDirector 3 and PowerProducer 2 Gold desktop products. One benefit from this is decreased storage needs, since MPEG files are typically smaller to an AVI of the same content. Plus it saves encoding time.
