Network World Fusion 09/27/02
A story on DigitalMass.com today reports the record labels are looking for a Congressional 'ok' to start going after peer-to-peer networks (Kazaa, et al) that swap copyright-protected music illegally. This is a bad, bad idea. Sure, they could use technology to attack these sites and networks with tactics like flooding the services with fake songs and blocking file transfers. But, do they realize who they're going up against when it comes to technical attacks? Hackers of the world will return fire and make the online life of some of the groups a living hell.
