Belkin recently got into the Global Positioning System (GPS) game with its new Belkin Receiver, a Bluetooth GPS receiver that can connect to a Bluetooth-enabled PDA or laptop to provide navigation data to users. The receiver costs $299.99 and will begin shipping on Jan. 15, 2004, Belkin says.

Belkin-BluetoothGPS.jpgThe system includes navigation software that covers any city in the U.S. or Canada, Belkin says, and works with both Pocket PC and Windows notebooks (as long as they are Bluetooth-enabled). The software includes automated voice prompts that tell the user when and where to turn. The receiver also includes a "high-sensitivity" mode that lets it function in areas such as parking garages, dense foliage, multilevel freeways and other "urban canyons" associated with cities.

The device includes a cigarette lighter adapter that works with Dell Axim and HP iPAQ devices, a USB charger (for notebooks) and a DC power adapter. The device provides up to 10 hours of continuous operation before needing a recharge, Belkin says. More information is available at the Belkin Web site.
