Network World Fusion, 01/23/03

Addonics Technologies announced a new external mobile DVD player / CD burner that has faster speeds. The Mobile DVD / CDRW drive from Addonics has a 16x DVD player, a 48x write / 24x re-write CD-RW burner, and a 48x CD-ROM drive. Addonics says the 24x re-write speed is the fastest among CD-RW drives on the market. The drive also comes with FireWire, CardBus or USB 2.0 connection options.

Addonics-Mobile_DVD_CDRW.jpgAddonics says the drive is compatible with seven multimedia formats -- CD-ROM, CD-ROM XA, CD-I, CD-DA, CD-Bridge, CD-Extra and Video CD. It can also record data to CD-RW in five different ways -- Track At Once, Multi-Session, Disc At Once, Session At Once and Packet Writing. The device measures 10- by 6.2- by 2-inches, and weighs 3.18 lbs., Addonics says. Bundled software includes CD mastering software and MPEG-2 decoding software for DVD playback.

The Mobile DVD/CDRW drive costs $279 for the USB 2.0 version; $289 for the CardBus/PCMCIA version and $299 for the FireWire model, the company added. Go to the Addonics Web site for more details.
