Star Trac has announced the Star Trac Pro Elite, a treadmill that can exchange workout data with Palm OS-based handheld devices. Through software created by SingleTap, users can monitor exercise performance over time on their handhelds.
Next month, handheld owners can download and install the application at the Star Trac Web site . Once the application is installed, a user just aligns the PDA's infrared port with the IR port on the treadmill console to beam the workout to the treadmill. Once the workout starts, the PDA receives data, including speed, incline, heart rate, calories burned, and distance traveled, Star Trac says. When finished with the workout, the user can review and compare it to previous workouts. Users can create customized workouts on the handheld and then beam them to the treadmill. Ready-made workouts will also be made available online, Star Trac says.
The treadmill also features two personal fans integrated into the console, and includs a digital weight scale and Star Trac's Soft Trac shock-absorbing running deck.
