HP, struggling under a boardroom spying scandal, continues to gain new business and on Wednesday announced that it has signed a seven-year deal with PepsiCo to provide data center management services for the soda and snack maker’s international division.
PepsiCo also signed a seven-year deal with British telecommunication giant BT, a strategic partner of HP since 2004, to provide network services.
Terms of the deals were not disclosed.
As part of the deal, HP will standardize PepsiCo International’s storage and server architecture to create an environment that will be more flexible and open to change to meet business demands, HP said in a statement. The new architecture, which will be consolidated into three HP data centers - in Mexico, Singapore and the United Kingdom - will provide enhanced capabilities in the areas of application management, network security, disaster recovery, asset management and operations support, HP said.
The HP-managed infrastructure will support PepsiCo International’s business in more than 60 countries outside the United States and Canada, HP said.
BT, meanwhile, will provide data, LAN, security conferencing, remote access and Internet services to support the new IT infrastructure. In addition, BT will manage PepsiCo International’s local and WAN infrastructure, migrating those services to a high-speed, IP-based MPLS infrastructure, across more than 900 locations in more than 60 countries.
