Spaces is a Java-based e-mail clients and personal information manager intended to replace Outlook.
It's due out in November, which, hey, is almost here!
Spaces is a tool that for the first time will integrate seamlessly all information management tasks for individuals and small groups under a single, easy-to-use interface. Using self-organizing P2P technologies, there will be no need for servers. Having designed the interface for collaboration from the ground up, there will be no need for five different programs that always do things differently and need a subpoena to talk to each other. ...Spaces will be open-sourced (although I still have to figure out the extent and the license under which to release it), free for individuals and non-commercial institutions, and its continued development will (hopefully) be supported from individual donations and licenses from commercial institutions and anyone else who believes in a world where monopolies won't control our lives (and is willing to give something to prove it :-))...
