I loved max headroom. Wish
I loved max headroom. Wish he was back on the air!!
Couldn't agree more.
The smug mac guy got old fast!
The MAC guys
I agree with your Everyman analysis, but I still find the ads cute and entertaining. Although, I think the MAC guy could look less sloppy, but still trendy.
If the Mac guy bothers you
If the Mac guy bothers you too much, go rent Dodgeball and watch him get clobbered by balls, wrenches, cars, etc. Good for a cheap laugh!
Another MAC Guy Movie appearance
He is also in the latest Die Hard Movie. He gets shot but not killed in this one (He also MAY get the girl who is the Hero's daughter).
the mac guy ads...
...shamelessly promote the notion that is better to be "fashionable and ignorant" rather than "knowledgeable and utilitarian."
Given that most people lack the technical aptitude necessary to operate anything more complicated than a toaster, I would say Apple has done a great job of reaching their target audience.
I really hate that MAC guy

The Mac Guy got to Beta test
The Mac Guy got to Beta test Drew Barrymore for 6 months which is pretty Long.
Annoying Characters
After trying for maybe 6 months to get Verizon to correct some customer service issues, I finally gave up and canceled their contract. I closed the letter with "Can you hear me now?" I wonder how many people did that.
Lowest Churn... You probably "downgraded"
I just finished a marketing class. If the add campaign is done correctly these annoying characters are moved into the background before they become too (over the top) annoying. Like the VZW - can you hear me now - guy is usually just pictured and nodding & no longer boring us with the tag line.
incedentally, since they have the lowest churn in the industry, chances are good that you will have an even worse experence with which ever company you ran to.
