How pathetic! Once again Windows corrupts itself. So why is Bill Gates so rich, and so many people SEEM to be so in love with the OS? For 40 years there have been MUCH more stable Operating Systems available; switch to one that works, and stop wasting your money.

How big is the payment from Carbonite to Deni Connor?
"I have Carbonite and it backs stuff up! This article has little to nothing to do with Carbonite, but boy am I glad I have it."
Network World is now manufacturing "news".
RE: Nice Advertisement
Why label an ad an article? Also, why even give the allusion of data loss? It seems the data was never in jeopardy, just a struggling operating system. Did the OS re-install take two days? She mentions losing two days of work.

Just for the record, I paid $49.95 (just like any other user) to purchase Carbonite. As for being a shill for the company, I haven't talked to them in over a year.

We provide secure online backups so this would never have happen
Bottom line: Your business data is too important to depend on potential human error and unreliable media, and your employees' time is too valuable to waste on backups when there is a better way to secure your vital computer data.
The better solution: Our automated, online backup solution allows your employees to get back to more productive tasks while providing backups that are simpler, more reliable, and more secure, often for less money than you are already paying for traditional backup methods. Offsite’s secure online backup and recovery service protects mission-critical files more reliably by automatically encrypting and replicating them offsite every business day, using the Internet, where they maybe recovered anytime from our online servers, 24/7.
Specific benefits of our online backup and recovery service include:
Security-
Reliably restore data at any time, including previous versions of files, to any computer.
• Secure connection (128-bit AES) to server.
• Seamless and free upgrades to latest version of software.
• No special hardware or tapes required, just an Internet connection.
• No bandwidth fee so you can backup and restore as frequently as you like.
Compression-
Data compressed before transmitting to save on storage costs.
Backup Sets-
• Fully automated (unattended) data backups to secure offsite servers.
• Control when, how often, and what to backup.
• E-Mail notification of any failed backups.

Unfortunately, the "ad" doesn't cover an acutal recovery process. People are backed up with Carbonite but when it comes to a true crash and data needs to be recovered and restored you can't find them. Deni, there is a reason you haven't spoked to them in over a year. Good luck if you need a true disaster recovery.
