Here's a little math
250 GBytes / 30 days per month = 8 GB per day
8 GB / 24 hours per day = 336 MB / hour
336 MB / 3600 seconds per hour = 93 KB per second
I don't know whar comcast's current BIG LIE (read: advertising) about their delivered speed, but I'll guarantee you that its more than 93 KBS.
I understand what comcast is trying to do. but they have to own up to the fact that they can't have it both ways.
Wondering
how does this affect streaming video and audio? do they have a widget or something that lets you know how much of your alotment you've used?
Bye! Bye!
Comcast, say "so long" to your Netflix users! As they're catalog increases, so will your descrimination towards use.
Dumped Comcast for FIOS two months ago
and never had a second thought about it, until now. Wow, glad I saw the handwriting on the wall. My problem is whether this will start a cascading event through other providers sort of trying to lower their BW usage costs and then laying the blame at Comcast's flat feet for starting this fiasco.
Wonder also if this change in service voids the Comcast user agreement so that users can dump Comcast without penalty? Bet not...
Comcast doesn't usually
Comcast doesn't usually impose an early termination fee.
Suggestion
If they are going to cap our bandwidth then they should provide some sort of Advertisement blocker that blocks all of the tons of bandwidth that those advertisements are eating up. After all we are paying for the service and being bombarded by advertisements for our money. I average 65 gig a month and I would bet that if they blocked the advertising from it I would use less then 10 gig a month. I am a paying customer and you are limiting my usage and forcing me to read tons of advertisements for my trouble. Fine you block the ads and we will use less bandwidth. Some sites have gotten so bad that the popup blockers can't even stop all the popup ads (respected news sites are the worst).
