We were totally stunned when we were contacting IT support companies to talk about becoming resellers for our security device/service.
Quite often we heard comments like, "if my customers never got any viruses, we'd go out of business!" Or, "Right now 60% of our business is derived from cleaning viruses. If we sold your product, we'd lose all that business."
These are actual quotes from only two of the people who had this attitude.
So maybe more IT support companies don't go with that model because they feel they would be losing billable hours.
I think customer's companies would be interested in that business model because then their costs are contained. And they know it's in the best interest of the service provider to get the problem fixed quickly and correctly the first time. Otherwise, the service provider will lose money on repeat problems.
That's just my opinion...
